Tonight’s job? Well there are several, I’m putting together the promo pack to send to the lovely authors and bloggers who have said that they would give me a shout out. It will consist of an HTML version for WordPress, an HTML version for Blogger and a version for Facebook.
Don’t know what the HTML means? It is a version that you can copy and paste into your website that does all the fancy formatting in advance so you don’t have to do anything. I can tell you how to do this on WordPress in detail.
When you write a blog on WordPress (like i’m doing now), at the bottom is the picture of the cover. I have words underlined, centered and occasionally i’ll have italics. In order for that to appear on another’s WordPress blog, looking exactly the same I would click on the button that says ‘Text’
When you click on that tab you’ll see your blog with all the coding on there too. Copy and paste your whole blog text and paste it into a word document and you can send it to another WordPress blogger, the pictures will show up too. Now, the same works for Blogger but the pictures won’t copy across so make sure you attach the pictures you want to appear on the email so the person who uses Blogger can add them in.
In my promo pack will also have the cover, and a teaser, attached separately. I re size them for Instagram, twitter, Facebook, Tsu and Ello. Each platform has different size preferences for pictures, so a twitter sized picture would be too big for Instagram so the user would have to re size it. If you have no idea who needs which size, go to Canva(dot)com. They have the size measurements on each of their templates. You can either scribble down the sizes and use your own picture software or use their’s for free.
I’ll send the synopsis too.
The other thing I am doing tonight is finishing off a piece for Sarah Michelle Lynch. She is putting an event together to support awareness of mental health. 29 or so authors have submitted pieces of writing all entitled “They say i’m doing well”. I have half done it, I just need to check some technicalities and then I can send it over. I’m first up on February 1st.
Plus, I’m searching for more bloggers who can help.
Here’s what I have left to do (in no particular order):
Contact 1000 849 blogs and get help, my current sign up rate is 46%; Attach book on Author Central (Amazon); Newsletter Release once live; write and then post excerpts; Post a Goodreads event; Organise a paperback giveaway; Update Website; Design Teasers; Format the book for eBook and Paperback; organise a thunderclap; update all the other eBook novels with this book’s title under books by this author; arrange for Book 1 to be at a reduced price a week before; set up ARCs. Set up a Facebook advert; set up a Goodreads advert
Decide whether to:
- Decide if I want to do a Facebook author take over, author event, blog tour and blog event.
- Decide if I want to do a Amazon Advert.
Will you help by commenting below some advice? and sign up to help launch the book? Here’s the form: http://goo.gl/forms/V1nUOByWE9
#SupportAnIndieAuthor
I’m going to blog each day about my journey in releasing my next book. I have two aims:
- A vain effort to help others, I hope my experience will help a budding or even an experienced author.
- Get the conversation going, I don’t pretend to have all the answers, not even half of them. If I did, I’d be #1 in my genre. I want people in the author world to help me and each other. Share my blog, comment with helpful tips, not just for me but for everyone else that is going to read them.
